ABOUT THE FAMILY
LIFE CENTER FOUNDATION
Established
in February 1982 as a public foundation, the Shiloh Family
Life Center Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization
responsible for development and management of community service
programs that operate through the Henry C. Gregory III Family
Life Center.
The
Family Life Center is a multipurpose facility built in 1982
through the vision of the late Rev. Henry C. Gregory III.
The board mission of the Family Life Center is to strengthen
and nurture families, particularly those families in the surrounding
Shaw Community in the District of Columbia. The Center brings
together families and individuals of all ages, races, and
backgrounds in a wholesome environment for educational, cultural
and recreational activities and spiritual renewal. The Family
Life Center Foundation provides community programs to help
individuals and families cope with pressures produced by the
changing society.
One
goal of the Family Life Center Foundation is to provide care
from "the cradle to the rocking chair" for persons
living under the shadows of poverty, violence, drug abuse
and other pathological conditions that can cripple families
in the struggle to survive in modern society. The following
programs represent seven tangible examples of care and support
provided by the Foundation to families in the District of
Columbia.
